The Faculty of Philosophy and History, Department of History, at Goethe University Frankfurt welcomes applications for the following position starting January 1st, 2017: full professorship (salary scale W3) in the history and consequences of the holocaust.
The chair in the department of history is combined with the position of the director (m/f) of the Fritz Bauer Institute.
The institute is an interdisciplinary, independent research, documentation and education centre on the history and consequences of the holocaust associated with Goethe University as an affiliated institute.
The successful appointee’s field will be the comprehensive history of national-socialist mass crimes – particularly the holocaust – and their consequences until the present. A leading role in existing and future collaborative research projects of the Fritz Bauer Institute, the department of history and the university as well as in academic self-administration are expected. A habilitation or an equivalent academic record as well as teaching experience are required. The teaching load will be reduced to allow for the position’s administrative role.
The successful candidate can be appointed as a civil servant or enter into an equivalent employment contract. The designated salary for the position is based on “W3” on the German university scale or equivalent.
